Vinyl Flooring Stairs - frequently asked questions
Modern LVP is embossed with a low-slip micro-texture rated specifically for stair use. It's more slip-resistant than polyurethaned hardwood and comparable to LVT in a commercial building.
We remove the carpet, padding, staples, and tack strip first, then evaluate the treads underneath. Solid wood treads just get leveled and the LVP goes right on top; particleboard or damaged treads get replaced before we install.
Not when it's installed correctly. We re-secure every tread and add construction adhesive before laying the plank, which usually makes the staircase quieter than it was before.
We use full vinyl treads that wrap over the nose of each step in one piece. That means no separate nosing strip, no seam, and no metal trim - just a clean, continuous edge that matches your floor.
