Feng Shui translates literally to “wind-water” and the practice of Feng Shui uses the elements to harmonizing our energy with our surroundings. The philosophy of feng shui is to build environments in harmony with the principles of the natural world. Here are some easy tips to increase the energetic flow throughout your home using the methods of Feng Shui!

1. Clear Clutter
Clutter is usually the culprit for stagnant, congested energy. Take the time to get rid of things you don’t need. Only keep items that are essential, useful or bring you happiness!

2. Be Aware of Hot Spots
Hot spots of the home include the front door, staircase, bed, desk, and oven.

Bed, Desk, and Oven

The bed represents you, the desk represents your career, and the stove/oven represents your wealth, wellness, and health. Position these important “hot spot” items in the commanding position, which means you want to be facing the door without being directly in line with the door. Being able to see the door is the main purpose of the commanding position.

The Front Door

The front door is the main portal for energy to enter the home, so having a clear, well-lit entryway is important for the energetic flow.

If you have a staircase immediately upon entering the house, consider the placement of plants, mirrors, and other furniture to diffuse the energy throughout the house.

3. Work With The Elements
Having a good mix of elements within the home, can help reduce anxiety and create a sense of peace. The Five Elements in Feng Shui include, earth, wood, fire, water, and metal. They can be used in your home either physically or symbolically.

Ideas here would be using plants, lots of natural light, and open windows for air, cool, blue-toned rugs, or a fountain for water, furniture with warm tones, like reds and oranges, or bring in the fire with an actual fireplace or a burning candle.

Use these easy tips within your own home to lift the mood and increase energetic flow.
