Pre-finished hardwood comes in two basic types: Solid and Engineered.  Solid hardwood is a “solid” cut of wood that usually comes ¾” thick. 

It is usually nailed down to plywood or OSB.  Engineered hardwood has a top layer of wood backed by a cross-plyed “engineered” wood. 

Engineered wood is usually 3/8” or 5/16” of an inch thick.  Although it is thinner than solid wood it is more stable due to its’ construction.  Engineered woods are typically glued down and must be used for concrete slab homes.  Carpet To Go can also refinish new or existing hardwoods in your home.
